Texas Sheet Cake

Ingredients for Cake:
3 cups sugar
3 cups flour
3/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp soda
1 1/2 cups butter (3 sticks)
1 1/2 cups water
6 T cocoa
3 eggs
3/4 cup sour cream or sour milk

Ingredients for Frosting:
1 1/2 sticks butter
6 T cocoa
9 T milk
1 T vanilla
5 1/4 cups powdered sugar

For cake: Combine sugar, flour, salt and soda in a bowl. Put butter, water and cocoa in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Pour over dry ingredients. Add eggs and sour cream. Pour on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

For frosting: Melt together butter, cocoa, milk and vanilla. Add powdered sugar.

  1. This is the best chocolate sheet cake ever and is even better if you add shaved coconut to the frosting....mmmmmm
